100 YARD STEEL PLATE LEAGUE

Clairton Sportsmen’s Club

NOTES:

1.       The 100 Yard League shoots every Sunday morning beginning with practice at 9:00 AM and league shooting at 9:30.  When space is available, shooters may also shoot a practice round as part of the league shoot. The shoot is generally over between 12:00 and 1:00.  Exceptions to the shoot dates are days the Golden Triangle Skeet League shoots, Easter, the Sunday after Thanksgiving, and days that special events are being held which limit access to the range and on those rare days when weather conditions do not permit shooting or restrict access to the range.  On occasion Christmas and New Year’s are also non-shooting dates.

2.      We shoot two leagues per year,  The first generally runs from the first Sunday in

January through the last Sunday in June and the second from the first Sunday in July through the last Sunday in December.  Because of bad weather in early January 09, the league start was delayed until JAN 25.

3.      The standard match consists of five relays of five shots for a total of 25 shots fired    offhand at approximately 100 yards.  The target is a steel plate approximately 100 yards down range.  To count as a hit, the target must be ‘knocked’ off the rail on which it sits.

4.      We have classes in regular pistol, open pistol and cowboy lever action rifle.  Ammunition is restricted to the traditional pistol cartridges such as .22 rim fire, .22 Hornet, 25-20, 32-20, 38s including the .357 magnum, 38-40, the .44s including the Remington Magnum and the .45s.

1.      We use the following definition of a cowboy lever action rifle for the rifle event:  Any lever action rifle with a tubular magazine designed for use with a rimmed pistol cartridge loaded with a flat nosed bullet, i.e. 22 long rifle, 22 magnum, 25-20, 32-20, 32 H&R,  38s, 357 magnum, 38-40, 44s and 45s.  The use of any other type of ammunition may be prohibited by local regulations. Likewise loads that may damage our targets may be disapproved by the appointed range officers for the Steel Plate Range.

2.      Fifteen scores are required to complete a league.  Please remember that you can shoot two rounds on any given shoot date.  The first round shot counts for score that day, the second can be applied forward or back to cover days missed; or can be used to shoot a second firearm.

8.      If you have any questions concerning our program, please contact  John Bucco, John Saunders, Bob Smith or Ron Fisher.
