The
Clairton Sportsmen rifle section is a very active and varied facet of
our club. The outdoor range has 10 firing benches with targets set at
50, 100, 150, and 200 yards. This range offers a great place to sight in
rifles,
muzzle loaders, pistols, and shotguns (slugs only). The range is open to
members who may bring one guest. However, no guests are permitted in
November due to the high volume of members who sight in for deer season.
The range is open year round from 9:00 A.M. till dusk. This is a paper
target range and is for single round firing only. The 200 Yard
Competition range offers 12 firing points and is open only under the
supervision of a designated range officer . CSC is affiliated with the
Civilian Marksmanship Program and holds 7-9 highpower competition
matches throughout the spring, summer, and fall. We host a John C.
Garand Match that is sanctioned through the CMP. Along with these
matches, we include several .22-rimfire long range matches that are
fired at 200 yard targets. The indoor rifle/archery range offers 50
foot target shooting on Thursday evenings at 7:00P.M. These matches
typically begin on the second Thursday of November and end on the second
Thursday in March. This is a great program to learn firearm safety,
proper techniques for competitive shooting, and just a great way to have
some fun. Juniors are encouraged to participate, often the starting age
is 10 years old, but adults are welcome as well. We encourage parents to
stay and watch their children learn.
